About Dr. Baxley

Dr. Baxley comes to Southern California from his hometown, Spokane, WA, where he practiced psychiatry in his own private practice for over 22 years.

Dr. Baxley graduated magna cum laude from Gonzaga University and received his M.D. degree from George Washington University in Washington D.C.  His residency training in psychiatry was in the Bay Area at Naval Hospital, Oakland, CA. He also completed additional training in the principles of psychoanalytic psychotherapy in Berkeley, CA and at Mt. Zion Hospital in San Francisco. Dr. Baxley has also studied the treatment of personality disorders using the James Masterson approach. In addition to monthly seminars in Spokane, he had two years of individual supervision from Ralph Klein, M.D., New York.

In 2006 and again in 2007 Dr. Baxley was included in the Consumers’ Research Council of America’s Guide to America’s Top Psychiatrists. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

While in Spokane Dr. Baxley developed a specialized treatment, working with priests from the Roman Catholic Diocese of Boise, helping many to stay with their vocation and work through whatever conflicts and underlying psychiatric conditions they presented.

Dr. Baxley is an avid runner and bicycle rider. He also enjoys playing classical guitar, backpacking, yoga and integrating psychiatry with spirituality. He comes to Southern California with great enthusiasm and is joined by his wife Mary-Claire and their son Bernard.
